A city at war with itself. A night beyond imagining. And… aftermath…

A short film directed by Helsinki 19 founder J.T. Lindroos, and featuring an original soundtrack by The Church and the voices of band members Steve Kilbey and Tim Powles. With original script by World Fantasy Award winner Jeff VanderMeer, based on his novel, Shriek: An Afterword.

SHRIEK MOVIE SHOWINGS
Shriek: The Movie to be screened, with freebies at all U.S. events provided by primary sponsors Tor Books (Jeff's publisher) and Cooking Vinyl (The Church's label), as well as Bantam Books, Omnidawn Press, Night Shade Books, Earthling Publications, Wheatland Press, and Prime Books. Give-aways include books, CDs, Shriek beer, etc. All events are free unless otherwise indicated.

MON. July 24 - Lisbon, Portugal - 9:30pm, Fnac Colombo (bookstore A-103; Centro Comercial Colombo, Av. Lusiada, Lisbon) -. A signing/reading by Jeff VanderMeer, followed by a showing of the movie and discussion.

THURS. August 3 - Berlin, Germany - 7 to 10pm, Andymon SF Club (address information unavailable at this time; check local listings) - A discussion with Jeff VanderMeer and showing of the movie.

FRI. August 4 - Berlin, Germany - 8pm - Otherland Bookstore (formerly "UFO Bookstore"; Bergmannstraße 25 • 10961 Berlin-Kreuzberg, Tel. (030) 69 50 51 17). Jeff VanderMeer signing, and discussion of the movie (including a showing of the film).

SUN. August 6 - Atlanta, GA - 6pm to 8pm - The Five Spot (1123 Euclid Avenue, NE, Atlanta, GA 30307, 404-223-1100) - "Invited, Like the Fans": Hang out with other Church fans at the Five Spot before The Church concert (at the Variety Playhouse, a block away). Two movie showings: 6:15pm and 7:15pm. (Members of The Church may attend, schedule permitting.)

THURS. August 10 - New York City - doors open 8pm - Irving Plaza (17 Irving Place, on the corner of 15th Street and Irving Place)- The movie is scheduled to air between the opening act and The Church’s performance, although this is subject to change depending on technical requirements.

August 19 - Raleigh - 11am - The Colony Theater (5438 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27609, http://www.therialto.com/main.php?title=our_theaters_colony) - A showing of the film hosted by Two Cranes Press’ Janet Chui and Jason Erik Lundberg, publishers of Off the Map by Daniel Wallace, author of Big Fish (made into a movie by Tim Burton).

August 19 - Portland, OR - 7pm and 9pm - Clinton Street Theater (2522 SE Clinton St., Portland, OR 97202 EventsPhone - 503.238.8899 or Message: 503.238.5588) A full-fledged event with movie showing, MC'd by local Portland author Jay Lake and the renowned performance poet Edward Morris, Jr., with support from 23rd Street Books. $6 adults, $3 children.

SUN. August 20 - New York, NY - 7pm to 11pm - Galapagos Art Space [70 North 6th Street between Kent and Wythe, Williamsburg, Brooklyn (718 782-5188). Subway: L to Bedford Ave] FROM UNDERGROUND: A night of strange and varied entertainments centered around Jeff VanderMeer's novel Shriek: An Afterword. Before and after the screening, a full slate of fantastical acts including readings by Catherynne M. Valente, Ellen Kushner, and Scott Westerfeld; burlesque by Jo Boobs and Bambi the Mermaid; rap by Schäffer The Darklord; and visual art by Hawk Alfredson. MCed by ¡Jeff! the Clown, with interstitial soundscapes by Nick Lesley. More information. $7.

SUN. August 20 - San Francisco, CA - 3pm to 4:30pm - 12 Galaxies (2565 Mission Street @ 22nd, San Francisco, CA . 94110, 415-970-9777, info@12galaxies.com; http://www.12galaxies.com/home.html) - The Church will attend this movie showing to answer questions about their involvement in Shriek and about their new CD. Ken Keegan and Rusty Morrison from Omnidawn Press as well as Chris Garcia from Science Fiction/San Francisco will host the festivities. Dave Barnard from Hotelwomb will also participate.

In addition, private parties have been planned by Jeff's fans in Philadelphia PA, New York City, Pittsburgh PA, Columbia SC, Des Moines IA, Osceola IN, and Orlando FL, mostly around the August 18th weekend, one week after the novel's release date.
